One-Pot, Three-Component Cascade Synthesis of New Imidazoles by Van Leusen Reaction from 2-Functionally Substituted 2-Alkenals, Amines, and p-Tosylmethylisocyanide

The reactivity of 2-alkoxy- and 2-alkylthiosubstituted 3-aryl(hetaryl)-2-propenals in a three-component reaction with primary amines and p-toluenesulfonylmethyl isocyanide (TosMIC) to afford the functionalized 1,3-imidazoles in good yields (36–69%) has been studied.
