摘要
The increasing demand for lithium in energy storage applications, particularly in electric vehicles and portable electronics, has necessitated the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly lithium extraction methods. This work explores the potential of metal–organic framework (MOF) membranes as a promising technology for lithium extraction from brine sources. The structure, fabrication methods, and performance of MOF materials in terms of selectivity and flux for lithium-ion separation are analyzed. A comparative assessment of these membrane types is presented, highlighting their respective strengths and limitations. In addition, a comparison of MOFs as adsorbents is provided along with an evaluation of selectivity in MOF membranes compared to that of sorbents. The paper also addresses the challenges and opportunities for industrial applications of MOF membranes in lithium extraction, providing insights into future research directions and the potential for large-scale implementation.
