摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) platforms are transforming English language learning by providing personalized and engaging experiences. This study investigated higher education students' views on integrating AI tools to improve English-speaking skills. Existing literature shows growing utilization of AI-enabled technologies like chatbots, voice assistants, and virtual reality to aid English skills development. However, students often encounter challenges and lack access to interactive AI systems that could enhance their language acquisition. A survey gauged students' perceptions of the need to improve English proficiency, potential AI benefits such as personalized practice and pronunciation feedback, implementation barriers, and risks of over-reliance on technology. Results revealed students welcome incorporating AI to supplement instructor-led teaching, but emphasize the continued necessity of human educators, particularly for developing communication skills. Student feedback advocated combining AI's capabilities for self-paced learning with teacher guidance and supervision. The findings provide insights into student attitudes toward AI integration and considerations for leveraging AI's strengths under instructor direction to deliver high-quality English education required for career readiness. This study concludes that a balanced AI approach focused on enriching student–teacher interactions can optimize English-speaking skills for higher education learners.
