Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NGC) infection causes lower genital tract inflammation as well as pelvic inflammatory disease, orchitis, and less commonly, bacteremia with septic arthritis, tenosynovitis and endocarditis.NGC is a common sexually transmitted infection with more than eighty million cases world-wide in 2020 (https://www.who.int/news-room/factsheets/detail/gonorrhoea-(neisseria-gonorrhoeae-infection).Importantly, the incidence of infections has increased steadily in recent years, while the bacteria has become increasingly resistant to many antibiotics, including ceftriaxone [1].
