Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose, also known as APAP poisoning, may directly result in hepatic injury, acute liver failure and even death. Nowadays, APAP-induced liver injury (AILI) has become an urgent public health issue in the developing world so the early accurate diagnosis and the revelation of underlying molecular mechanism of AILI are of great significance. As a major detoxifying organ, liver is responsible for metabolizing chemical substances, in which human carboxylesterase-2 (CES2) is present.
