摘要
Artificial intelligence (hereafter referred to as AI) is gaining acceptance at an increasing pace across industries. Particularly in the context of autonomous systems, AI is being used as a fundamental construct that improves decision-making capabilities in various use cases. However, there is also growing concern about whether AI can be designed to operate responsibly and without bias in the context in which it is used. Bias is added to an algorithm at various stages through conscious and unconscious means. Such biased algorithms have far-reaching consequences on various aspects such as safety, fairness, personal liberty & societal stability. The aim of this study is to identify key factors that influence the adoption of responsible AI in autonomous systems. The said study started with an exploratory component by analyzing the relevant literature and identifying 3 factors that influence the adoption of responsible AI. A quantitative survey was conducted on a five-point Likert scale with a total of 65 respondents to obtain a viewpoint on how these factors influence the adoption of responsible AI. Among other things, the study shows that the adoption of responsible AI must be viewed as a holistic effort that requires technology and an awareness of ethics and principles among AI experts, rather than an isolated technology issue. This study provides an empirical foundation for future researchers investigating the mechanisms by which companies adopt responsible AI.
