摘要
Hyperlipidemia is a causal determinant of atherosclerotic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease and is treatable through safe, effective, and available interventions. However, hyperlipidemia is common in the American population. An estimated 32.8% and 36.2% of US adult males and females, respectively, have a total cholesterol ≥200mg/dL and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) ≥130mg/dL.1 Despite this burden, it is unknown how many deaths are attributed to hyperlipidemia as the primary cause. The current report is a descriptive analysis of hyperlipidemia as the underlying cause of death during 2018 to 2021.
