摘要
Concern about pollutant formation and emissions continues to be a driving force for research in combustion chemistry. Important pollutants include nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SOx), and chlorine species. Even though pollutant formation and control have been the subject of extensive research over the last four decades, there are still unresolved issues that may limit the accuracy of engineering calculations and thereby the potential of measures for control. In this chapter, the formation and transformation of NOx, SOx, and chlorinated species are outlined and the reliability of current detailed reaction mechanisms is discussed.
