Copper Deficiency

A 73-year-old woman was referred to the hematology clinic for evaluation of anemia. Bone marrow biopsy revealed trilineage hematopoietic maturation with severe dyserythropoiesis. Laboratory studies showed a low copper level, and the anemia resolved with copper supplementation.
