Diagnostic methods in biochemistry and clinical research are of great importance. In recent years, extensive research and rapid developments have occurred in this branch of science. One of the achievements for biology diagnoses is microarrays which are becoming more widely used than traditional methods due to their sensitivity and ease of their use. Microarrays are widely used in research and clinical laboratories around the world for applications like disease detection, nutrigenomic plant biology and genetically amending foods, drug discovery, and development, profiling biochemical pathways, large scale genotyping, gene expression profiling, etc. In this chapter, the role of microarray technology along with microfluidic systems in biomedical engineering was discussed.
