Analysis of alkyl nitrites by capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry

This paper presents the analysis of the commonly-abused alkyl nitrites by capillary column gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. It includes the procedure for the preparation of the relevant alkyl nitrites which can be used as a source of reference compounds. The retention index data and the eight most intense peaks in the mass spectra of iso-butyl, iso-pentyl(amyl) and some closely-related nitrites are given.
