Dealkylation of Alkyl and Aryl Ethers with AlCl3- NaI in the Absence of Solvent

Abstract A facile synthetic procedure, for dealkylation of alkyl and aryl ethers with A1C13 -Nal in the absence of solvent is developed. We have been able to deprotect different methyl ethers in excellent yields.
