Deep-red light and near-infrared (NIR) light emitting phosphors are crucial to the pc-LEDs (phosphor-converted light emitting diodes) for high quality full-spectrum lightings and NIR spectroscopy. Herein, a series of deep-red to NIR light emitting phosphors were prepared by doping Mn4+ and Cr3+ ions into La2MgTiO6 host. Phase structure, morphology and optical properties were discussed in detail. The emission of Mn4+ located in deep-red region with a maximum at 710 nm, while that of Cr3+ fell in both deep-red and NIR region (peaking at 762 nm). More importantly, the doping of Mn4+ can compensate for the absent spectrum of Cr3+ in deep-red region to a certain extent, and continuous tunable emission from deep-red to NIR region can be successfully achieved. The concentration-dependent and temperature-dependent luminescence properties were explored systematically. A series of pc-LEDs were fabricated with 370 nm LED chip and the designed phosphors, the results demonstrate that the designed phosphors may have multifunctional applications such as for full-spectrum lightings and NIR vessel visualization field.
