The piezoelectric polymer itself has the advantages of material flexibility, high deformability, and high piezoelectric voltage constant. In recent years, research and development is very rapid. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF or PVF) is a flexible, thermoplastic, and chemically stable thin-film piezoelectric material. The modification of piezoelectric polymer has also become a hot research topic in the field of piezocatalysis. Based on literature published in the last ten years, this work focuses on the research progress of innovative piezoelectric materials with current or potential practical applications. It highlights the types of piezoelectric polymers and describes the modification of piezoelectric polymers and related mechanisms. The application forms of piezoelectric polymers in water treatment were summarized, and several common material preparation forms were also introduced as reflections of their application in water treatment.
