To develop a novel effective catalyst for contaminant removal and sustainable environment, series Z-scheme MIL-88A(Fe)/TCNQ (MxTy) composites were facile prepared by ball-milling strategy. The as-prepared MxTy composites displayed excellent photo-Fenton sulfamethoxazole (SMX) degradation activities upon the irradiation of LED visible light, in which the optimal M160T40 could accomplish complete SMX degradation within 30 min. The M160T40 demonstrated excellent reusability in five cycling experiments. The possible degradation pathways of SMX over M160T40 were proposed. Finally, a Z-scheme mechanism was put forward and affirmed by photoluminescence (PL), electrochemical determination, active species capture experiments and electron spin-resonance (ESR) spectroscopy determinations.
