Investigation of In vitro Anti-inflammatory and Antimicrobial Effects of Berberine.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) colonizes the skin exacerbating symptoms in eczema patients. This may be linked to the fact that toxins from S. aureus induce local inflammation mediated by TNF-α. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities of berberine, a natural compound with strong biological and pharmacological activity.
