Fenton-like reaction of the iron(ii)–histidine complex generates hydroxyl radicals: implications for oxidative stress and Alzheimer's disease

Fenton-like reaction of the iron( ii )–histidine complex, one major iron( ii ) species in blood plasma, occurs at neutral pH, generating hydroxyl radicals and the iron( iii )–histidine complex found in Alzheimer's disease.
