Coupling of electrocatalytic CO2 reduction and CH4 oxidation for efficient methyl formate electrosynthesis

The coupling of CO 2 reduction and CH 4 oxidation in an integrated electrochemical system is demonstrated, in which the formed HCOO − further reacts with CH 3 Cl to yield methyl formate, with excellent production rate, energy efficiency, and stability.
