摘要
As a cultural and educational institution, the museum has undergone significant changes in recent decades. Many museums have evolved into new incubators using technology to enhance the interpretation, presentation and curation of collections. The rapid growth of digital media has had a tremendous impact on the work of curators and other museum professionals. They often collaborate with professionals from other sectors of the creative industries, such as innovators, designers, illustrators, visual merchandisers, digital media developers and social media strategists to create new venues, new audiences and renovated visitor experiences in and beyond the confined physical spaces of the museum. Focusing on art museums, this chapter discusses the interactions between museum curation and digital media, and the effects on the future of creative work. This chapter proposes an expanded notion of museum curation that goes beyond the role of the curator and the physical space of the museum institution.
