摘要
The swamp eel (Monopterus albus), also called the rice field eel, is not only an economically important freshwater fish in aquacultural production in the world, but also an increasingly recognized model organism for biological studies. It has a small genome with ~ 0.8 Gb and a chromosome number of 18–24 that is among the least in teleost species. During its genome evolution, whole genome-wide chromosomal fission/fusion events occurred, which are involved in each chromosome of the genome, along with rearrangement and loss events of genomic blocks.
