Radiotherapy-induced vitiligo: A systematic review of patient demographics and clinical characteristics of vitiligo following radiation therapy

To the Editor: Vitiligo is characterized by depigmentation of the skin and hair because of autoimmune destruction of melanocytes.1 The etiology of vitiligo is multifactorial and may include some forms of radiation therapy, such as external beam radiation therapy.2 The current literature lacks a cohesive summary of the clinical characteristics of radiotherapy-induced vitiligo. Our purpose was to conduct a systematic review of the patient demographics and clinical characteristics of radiotherapy-induced vitiligo.
