Identification of musculoskeletal infection with non-tuberculous mycobacterium using metagenomic sequencing

•We report four cases of refractory non-tuberculous mycobacterium musculoskeletal infection. •The report shows a novel use of metagenomic next-generation sequencing to detect pathogens. •All patients were cured through targeted antibiotic and surgeries.
