The phytochemical research of Swertia chirayita

OBJECTIVE To study the phytochemistry of Swertia chirayita.METHODS The constituents were isolated by silica gel column chromatography and their structures were identified on the basis of spectral data.RESULTS 13 compounds were isolated and identified as(β-)sitosterol,oleanic acid,m-hydroxybenzoic acid,vanillic acid,norbellidifolin,bellidifolin,norswertianolin,swertianolin,gentiopicroside,sweroside,deacetylcentapicrin,amarogentin,and sweroside.CONCLUSION These compounds are isolated from this plant for the first time.
