Analytical Solution of Chip Resistor’s Trimming Behavior

Combining with the method of symmetry analysis,we generalize the work of P. M. Hall on the resistance of chipresistors. In anNS×Srectangular chip resistor, nIS×nSstripsare cut out evenly. The analytical expression of residual resistancecan be calculated by using Hall's theory and symmetry. Using thisresult, the trimming size can be designed in advance according tothe required resistance parameters, without repeated trimmingmeasurement and successive approximation.
