Abstract Despite its promising potential, phosphorene encounters substantial challenges that necessitate resolution before its practical implementation, particularly as an electrode material in batteries. Key hurdles encompass synthesis methods, scalability, stability, and seamless integration, alongside considerations of safety, cost, and standardization. While simulations and laboratory experiments showcase phosphorene's capabilities, tackling these challenges is imperative for transitioning from research to practical applications. Furthermore, fostering collaborative insights, mitigating redundancy, and catalyzing breakthroughs that extend beyond specific material‐design combinations are essential for delivering enhanced products being advanced through diverse materials and design pathways.
