摘要
Editor—Temperature changes are detected by transient receptor potential (TRP) channels; their activation depolarises primary sensory afferents leading to signal transmission to the spinal cord and to primary sensory afferents. Transient receptor potential V1 (TRPV1) and transient receptor potential A1 (TRPA1) are two ligand-gated TRP channels that detect thermal and cold stimuli, respectively.1,2 However, how their interactions contribute to regulation of thermal and cold sensation is unknown. We hypothesised that a balance between TRPV1 and TRPA1 detects temperature changes. However, we found that TRPV1 plays a role in mediating cold hyperalgesia by modulating TRPA1 to maintain temperature sensation.
