Study on electro-optical characteristics of the PDLC doped with Rhodamine 6G

A fluorescent polymer dispersed liquid crystal(fluorescent-PDLC) film was prepared by adding the Rhodamine 6G to PDLC.By testing the transmission spectra of PDLC film and fluorescent-PDLC film in the visible range,it is found that the absorption peak is around 535 nm and the light intensity increases dramatically in the region from 550 nm to 580 nm in the transmission spectrum of fluorescent-PDLC film compared with the pure PDLC film.The absorption spectrum and emission spectrum of Rhodamine 6G are provided to confirm that the above-mentioned difference is caused by the introduction of Rhodamine 6G.To further investigate the electro-optical characteristics of fluorescent-PDLC film,transmission spectra of fluorescent-PDLC films with different angles and voltages are measured upon green laser irradiation(λ=532 nm).The results show that the transmitted green and fluorescent light beams with different angles obey different voltage regulation rules.When the scattering angle is from 0° to 4°,the light intensity of the green light increases with the voltage increase.Ranging from 5° to 26°,the light intensity of the green light first increases and then decreases with the voltage increase.After the degree of 27°,the light intensity of the green light decreases with the voltage increase.However,the light intensity of the fluorescence decreases with the increase of voltages,and it is subject to Gaussian distribution.
