Reliability and vadility of Chinese version of the Practice Enviroment Scale

Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of Chinese version of the Practice Environment Scale(PES).Methods The Practice Environment Scale was translated and adapted according to Chinese culture.The reliability and validity of Chinese version of PES was tested in 858 nurses.Results The Cronbach's α of PES was 0.91 and the Cronbach's α of each subscale was ranged from 0.67 to 0.79.The test-retest reliability was 0.84 and the content validity was 0.94.The correlations between each subscale and total scale were ranged from 0.62 to 0.88.Six factors were extracted by factor analysis and could explain 53.36% of the total variance.Conclusion Chinese version of PES is reliable and valid,and can be used in the research of Chinese nursing work environment.
