摘要
Subsurface drainage by means of buried conduits is an agricultural land improvement practice that has been utilized since at least 200 B.C. (9). Many thousands of acres of farmland are now drained by this method. Furthermore, as the demand increases for greater efficiency in agricultural production, the acreage of both new and replacement subsurface drainage systems that are installed annually can be expected to increase. Changes can be expected in both materials and equipment used in such drainage systems (3, 10).
