In article number 1907516, James Friend and co-workers present the use of acoustic waves to produce electrolyte flow in lithium-metal batteries, enabling their rapid recharging without fear of damage. The surface acoustic wave device at the bottom produces 100 MHz waves across its surface, which leads to electrolyte transport between the anode and cathode, suppressing lithium-ion depletion during charging, as well as consequent heating and dendrite growth.
