摘要
Central nervous system and renal system – two of the most vital organ systems of our body are both structurally and functionally inter-linked. This chapter deals with the essential basics of cerebral physiology and then the anatomical and physiological basis of the role of central nervous system in the regulation of renal functions – renal blood flow, tubular function and hormonal secretion. Additionally, this is followed by discussion of pathological states attributable to the altered neural control of renal function. At the end, we also introduce the recent concept of the brain-kidney- gut axis.
