A novel frequency selective surface (FSS)structure with great insensitivity to the incident angles designed for the millimeter wave communication radome is proposed in this paper. The strong coupling is introduced to realize the excellent angular stability in this design. The proposed FSS exhibits a quite stable response under a wide range of incident angles up to 80° for both TE and TM polarizations. Furthermore, a broad stopband at the second harmonic of the operating band is provided, which can suppress the spurious signals of the antenna. A corresponding equivalent circuit model (ECM)is also proposed to better analyze the principles of the proposed FSS. Finally, the results obtained by the full-wave simulations and ECM have good agreement and demonstrate that the proposed FSS structure is a good candidate for the millimeter wave communication radome.
