Abstract Fundamentally the most common relation of calculating optical spectrums for transparent materials is considered to be the complex permittivity equation for crystalline materials. Taking in sight all disadvantages of both original Lorenz-Lorentz-Clausius-Mossotti relation and its numerous interpretations it is still one of the ground solid-state physics problems to eliminate them. The article considers an author’s original method of finding an explanation for so-called the “Mossotti catastrophe” by revealing causal links between basic components of Lorenz local field and eventually solving this difficulty without any changes in Lorenz initial interpretation.
