Camptothecin and analogs: role in anticancer activities

Camptothecin (CPT), a breakthrough phytocompound, was investigated extensively for its anticancer efficacy. Preclinical and clinical trials have proven evidences for its potent anticancer activities. CPT and analogs, because of their potential antineoplastic properties, have secured by pharma segments and used as chemotherapeutic drugs. The investigations related to anticancer activity against various cancers were discussed in this chapter. The emerging nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems and combinational therapies for improving its efficacy are summarized.
