Health Information Seeking and Its Achievements in Patients With Chronic Disease

This study investigated health information-seeking behavior in patients with various chronic diseases and its effect on disease outcomes and health. A systematic search was performed in different databases and the Google Scholar search engine. Results of textual (content) analysis of 16 articles revealed that health information seeking exerts some effects on patients’ self-management and self-control and the disease. Thus, patients need to be encouraged to obtain information from useful and reliable sources and also to share it with health professionals to confirm the accuracy of the information.
