Choroid plexus–CSF system

The choroid plexus is a villous epithelial–endothelial vascular structure located within the ventricular system and is primarily responsible for the production of CSF. The choroid plexus–CSF system is crucial for the development, maintenance, and function of the CNS. The choroid plexus consists of a monolayer of cuboidal epithelial cells that surrounds a stromal core of connective tissue and capillaries. The choroid epithelium has a brush border consisting of microvilli; tight junctions, forming a blood–CSF barrier, join adjacent choroid epithelial cells.
