Abstract The interzeolite conversion (IZC) method was first applied to the synthesis of Al-containing SFH-type zeolite having extra-large pore, successfully reducing the total synthesis time from 5 to 2 d. The crystallization mechanism with a two-step pathway was revealed. The obtained zeolite demonstrated promising catalytic performance in the acylation of 2-methoxynaphthalene, showing its potential for shape-selectivity for reactions involving bulky molecules.
