Three complexes with the formulas [{Cu(bpy)2}{WIV(CN)6(bpy)}]·2H2O (1), [Cu(NO3)(bpy)2][WV(CN)6(bpy)]·MeCN (2) and [{Cu(dmb)2}{WIV(CN)6(bpy)}]·6H2O (3) (where dmb = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine) were isolated and described. Results of the X-ray crystal structure measurement showed a bimetallic units in structure of 1 with square geometry in the structure. For 1 and 3 the cyanido bridges between tungsten and copper atoms were observed. IR spectra and elemental analyses of 1–3 remained in accordance with the result of the crystal structure analysis. The layered arrangement in complexes was compared to the previously described [W(CN)6(bpy)]−/2- systems. Magnetic data for 1 and 2 show no phase change and a week ferromagnetic interaction between metal ions in structure of 2.
