The letter presents a dual-polarized dipole antenna with a low profile and broad bandwidth. A crossed-shaped patch is utilized to design an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) reflector to provide a wide bandwidth of 87.7%. The decrease of the antenna profile is realized by utilizing the proposed AMC reflector, while maintaining an extremely wide bandwidth. For improving the impedance matching, four semi-circular strips and eight semi-elliptic strips are employed and placed between the radiation arms of the dipole. Additionally, metal walls are utilized to focus electromagnetic radiation and then improve the antenna gain. By utilizing this new scheme, a wideband dual-polarized dipole antenna with a low profile is designed for mobile communications. It attains a very broad bandwidth of 77.1% (1.69-3.81 GHz), stable gain of 7.5-10.2 dBi and good isolation of more than 27 dB. Furthermore, the profile of the antenna is merely 0.15λc, where λc represents the wavelength of free-space at the central frequency.
