摘要
Organohalides are typically highly-toxic and refractory contaminants, and the efficient removal of organohalide from environment is urgently required. Biochar is considered as green and economic multifunctional material and shows the great potential to facilitate organohalide removal based on its complex porous matrices and various surface functional groups. This review provides the comprehensive information on the state-of-the-art research progress of biochar-based materials as “generalists” for organohalide removal working in aspects as adsorption, catalyzing chemical oxidation and reduction, and favoring metabolism of microbial degradation. The current status and challenges of multifunctional biochar application for organohalide remediation are also discussed, lie in the deep analysis of the functional mechanism, and the precise design and development of biochar functions adaptive to the different environmental media. The review offers a sustainable route toward carbon resource recycling and reuse of biochar into value-added functional material during organohalide removal in the environment.
