As emerging materials in nanotechnology, aggregation-induced emission luminogen (AIEgen)-based nanomaterials are prospering rapidly. AIEgen-based nanomaterials with advantageous properties of excellent photostability, good biocompatibility, and high emission efficiency have become a hot research topic and are widely applied in chemical and biological sensing. In this chapter, we first introduce the concept of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and the sensing principles of AIEgen-based nanomaterial sensors. Then, we summarize the recent progress of AIEgen-based nanomaterial sensors sorted by the types of analytes. Finally, we present a perspective on the future developments of AIEgen-based nanomaterial sensors. We hope that this chapter will draw attention from scientists in different research fields and contribute to the development of AIEgen-based nanotechnology.
