New complex tin sulfides, BaSnS3, SrSnS3 and PbSnS3 with orthorhombic NH4CdCl3 structure were prepared in a piston cylinder type high pressure apparatus at 500 to 800°C and 20 kb. Their unit cell parameters at room temperature were determined as follows: a = 8.527 A, b = 14.515 A, c = 3.933 A and V = 486.8 A3 for BaSnS3; a = 8.264 A, b = 14.116 A, c = 3.867 A and V = 451.1 A3 for SrSnS3; and a = 8.740 A, b = 14.079 A, c = 3.796 A and V = 467.1 A3 for PbSnS3. None of them transformed to the perovskite structure below 60 kb and 900°C.
