Based on the physical concept of porous media, steam flow and heat transfer in a double-pass condenser is being numerically simulated and analyzed. Results show that severe accumulations of noncondensable gases in condensers do accur, which hamper flow and deteriorate heat transfer.Effective improvements are suggested, according to which the baffle at the air extraction port should open somewhat to let the accumulated noncondensable gases to escape.Numerical calculation shows the measure to be effective.
