WyndaeleSearch for more papers by this author First published: 18 December 2009 https://doi.org/10.1002/nau.20870Citations: 771 † Christopher Chapple led the review process. ‡ The 4th International Consultation on Incontinence met from July 5 to 9 2008 in Paris and was organized by the International Consultation on Urological Diseases, a non-governmental organization, in official collaboration with the World Health Organisation, in order to develop recommendations for the diagnosis evaluation and treatment of urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and bladder pain syndrome. § The recommendations are evidence based following a thorough review of the available literature and the global subjective opinion of recognized experts serving on focused committees. The individual committee reports were developed and peer reviewed by open presentation and comment. The Scientific Committee, consisting of the Chairmen of all the committees then refined the final recommendations. ¶ These recommendations published in 2008 will be periodically re-evaluated in the light of clinical experience, technological progress and research.
