Engineering ethics and society

The engineering profession has a strong tradition of ethical standards for its members. However, the practice of engineering is changing in ways that raise ethical issues not previously considered. These “macro ethical” issues are ones for the profession as a whole rather than for individual engineers. This paper lays out some of the issues as a way of encouraging further discussion.
