The phytochemical research on Salvinia natans (L.) All. resulted in the isolation of 11 compounds, subdivided into four steroids (1–4), three megastigmanes (5–7), two lignans (8 and 9), one phenanthrene (10), and one nepetolactone derivative (11). The structures of these compounds were elucidated mainly by NMR spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the published data. All these compounds were isolated for the first time from S. natans. Among them, eight compounds (3–6 and 8–11) were found from the Salvinia genus for the first time. Meanwhile, the study introduced the chemotaxonomic significance of these isolates.
