摘要
Recently, two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials are widely used for the construction of polymeric composite coatings for different industrial applications. Many features, i.e., anti-corrosion, thermo-mechanical, fire retardancy, hydrophobic surface, anti-wear/anti-scratch, ultraviolet (UV)-shielding, anti-foaling, and anti-bacterial were introduced for 2D nanomaterials-based polymers coatings. This chapter tries to briefly categorize different kinds of 2D nanomaterials for application in polymeric composites for various purposes. Various kinds of 2D nanomaterials are introduced to enhance the anti-corrosive properties of the polymeric coating over time. Layered 2D nanomaterials such as graphene—based nanomaterials, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ), hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), zirconium phosphate (ZrP), hydroxyapatite flakes (HA), layered (transition) metal oxides (TMOs), layered double hydroxides (LDHs), and also none-layered types of 2D nanomaterials such as metals, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and MXenes (Ti 3 C 2 Tx), and finally, binary hybrid (and/or blend) nanomaterials (0D/2D, 1D/2D, 2D/2D, 3D/2D) are well-known 2D materials that are introduced during the time for improvement of the properties of the polymeric coating. In this chapter, various kinds of polymers coatings were introduced with their advantages and/or disadvantages. Some special deficiencies of polymer coatings that persuade researchers to use various discrete solid functional additives which are named "pigments" within polymeric coatings for industrial application will be mentioned in this chapter. Synthesis and characterization methods as well as different applications of 2D nanomaterials will be briefly mentioned in the middle of the chapter. Then, different applications of 2D nanomaterials in the polymer coatings with a focus on the anticorrosion features will be described in detail. And finally, future trends of the 2D nanomaterials-based polymer nanocomposites for protective coatings will be discussed.
