Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery for partial cholecystectomy: first clinical practice (with video)

A 43-year-old woman presented with persistent upper abdominal pain for 2 months. CT revealed a gourd-shaped gallbladder with a cavity filled with stones at the bottom part, which connected to a larger empty cavity through a narrow neck (A). She refused cholecystectomy and opted for a transrectal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) procedure (Video 1, available at www.giejournal.org).
