Purification of the Radix Hedysari Polysaccharide and Determination of its Constitution

OBJECTIVE To acquire pure Radix Hedysari polysaccharide and assay its constitution.METHODS To obtain pure material by stepwise ethanol precipitation and Sephadex G,assay its constitution by GC. RESULTS Polysaccharide 1 and 2 are divided into two components separately by Sephadex G-200,polysaccharide 3 is divided into two components by Sephadex G-25.The composes of Radix Hedysari polysaccharides are Rhamnose,Arabinose,Xylose,Glucose,Galactose.CONCLUSION Polysaccharide 1,2,3 obtained by stepwise ethanol precipitation can be purified through Sephadex G-200 and Sephadex G-25.Determining their constitution by GC is simple and useful.
