Study on the Technology of Preparing Dimethyl Sulfoxide

The technological process of synthesizing DMSO with DMS and H 2O 2 were studied. The effect of experimental conditions on the yield for DMSO was investigated. The optimal conditions are: reaction temperature, 25～35 °C; velocity of H 2O 2 flow, 1.5 mL/min; volume ratio of DMS to H 2O 2, 0.6∶1.0; reaction time, 4.5 h. The yield of DMOS reached 98.5%.
